Since I'm often the last to leave my office, I typically turn off all the lights that I am able to, including my desk overhead and the student desk lights. This morning, I reduced my fuel use by carpooling with family members. I make sure to recycle paper we use in our departmental tasks when possible, or even better, save printer paper scraps for a second use!

While I was not able to avoid single-use packaging today as I purchased my lunch from dining services, I did avoid a single-use cup and plastic lid by bringing by own metal coffee mug this morning. For lunch I had Passport's Veggie Heaven (yum!) as one of my meatless meals - so satisfying and flavorful! I brought my own napkin to work and did not use plastic utensils, and my leftovers went into my reusable silicone sandwich bag.

Today I also purchased a dining services item that was packaged in paper, not plastic.

I started the EcoChallenge today! Today I went to the clothing swap and scored one comfy top. I also brought my own coffee cup today and will try to use it for a refill this afternoon. For packing my lunch I used my new silicone reusable sandwich bags instead of disposable plastic bags. These are microwave safe and very stylish as well!
